Located in the heart of the Pyrenees, 65 km from Castell de Ciutat, this park is the best sample of Catalan high Pyrenees. Unique for the majesty of its landscape and the richness of the flora and fauna, the park is covered with fir tree and black pine forests. Nearly 200 high mountain lakes deserve it with water. Some of the species that find shelter in this park are chamois, grouses, marmots and the mythical osprey.
The best excursions to get to know the park are the walks called "Cami dels Enamorats", the "Rock of Cremada", the "Estany Llong", the walk along the Sant Maurici lake starting at the gazer of Amitges.
In Aigüestortes National Park you can admire glacier phenomenas like the U shaped valleys and lakes. The landscape includes alpine meadows and some of the peaks neraly reach an altidudeof 3,000 meters.
